Scotland stun World no. 1 England, veteran cricketers question ICC’s 10 country WC decision
Scotland stun neighbours England registering their first victory over the English team, securing the biggest win in their cricket history. Callum MacLeod’s brilliant 140 of 94 balls took the Scotts to 371 in glorious batting conditions in Edinburgh.
The Brits won the toss and elected to field. The Scotts took full advantage of the batting conditions and attacked the English bowlers. Matthew Cross and Kyle Coetzer scored 48 and 58 respectively to set a perfect platform for Callum MacLoed to score his blistering century. Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett picked up two wickets each but none of the English bowlers were able to keep the Scottish batsmen at check.
England’s run-chase was very much on its course riding on Johnny Bairstow’s 59 ball 105 with 12 fours and 6 sixes until they slipped from 220-2 to 276-7 .Liam Plunkett (47 not out) and Moeen Ali (46) kept them in it, but last man Mark Wood was lbw to Safyaan Sharif from the fifth ball of the 49th over. Mark Watt picked up 3 wickets while Alasdair Evans and Richie Berrington bagged 2 wickets a piece.

Cricket veterans have expressed their disappointment at the ICC’s decision of playing only 10 teams in the world cup which is to be played in England next year after victory Scotland;s over number one ranked England.
Scotland proving yet again that reducing the World Cup to 10 teams is absolutely bonkers ….. #SCOvENG

I believe alot of positive things have been done by the @ICC over the years however I can’t help but think they have missed a trick regarding a 10 team World Cup.
Yet another piece of evidence to back that thought up today….#SCOvENG
