New Delhi :

Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other leaders have been detained during the protests outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi on Friday. They were protesting against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to sack the CBI Director Alok Verma and appoint M Nageshwar Rao as an interim CBI Director. The Congress termed the move as “illegal and unconstitutional” and demanded an apology from the Prime Minister.

The TMC and CPI have also joined the protests which have spread across other locations including Bengaluru, Jaipur and Bhopal.

Senior Congress leaders, including Ashok Gehlot, Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vora, Veerappa Moily, Anand Sharma, Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav, CPI leader D Raja and TMC’s Nadimul Haque were also part of the protest.

“PM can run, he can hide but in the end, truth will be revealed. Removing CBI Director will not help. PM acted against CBI Director; it was an act out of panic” said Congress President Rahul Gandhi after leaving Lodhi Colony police station in Delhi.
