Khelo India Youth Games 2019: Maharashtra shows the way


Maharashtra puts up a strong performance in the Khelo India games; Alden Noronha wins 110 meter hurdle; Maharashtra wins 4x100m relay for women in under-17 category.

Khelo India Youth Games saw athletics championship in its full granduer. In the under-21 boys category, Alden Noronha stamped his authority in the 110m hurdles event, winning the gold.


In the Women’s under-21, 100 meter hurdle Kerala’s Aparna Roy took the gold with a time of 14.25 seconds. Tamil Nadu’s Nandhini S settled for a silver while West Bengal’s Moumita Mondal took the bronze with a timing of 14.56 seconds.

In the under-17 boys category, Delhi’s Ritesh Choudhary took the honours in the 110m hurdle event.

The Delhi lad took home gold with a time of 14.25 seconds. Maharasthra’s Tejas Shirse and Haryana’s Kamal grab the silver and bronze respectively.


In the under 17 girl section, Tamil Nadu’s Thabith bag the gold in the 100m hurdle event with a timing of 14.14 seconds. Maharasthra’s Pranjali Patel and Kerela’s Ann Tommy took the silver and bronze respectively.

In the Women under-17 4X100 meter relay Maharastra showed their prowess, winning the gold with a timing of 48.2 seconds. Kerela and Tamil Nadu had to settle for silver and bronze.

In the under 21 boys category, Gujrat’s Ajit Kumar Yadav took the gold in the 5000m race. Ajit clocked 14min and 54 seconds to bag the gold. Madhya Pradesh’s Bahadur Patel and Haryana’s Ravi Dahiya bag the silver and bronze respectively.


In swimming under 21 boys category Karnataka’s Shiva Sridhar won the gold with a timing of 41.75 seconds.

Maharashtra’s Vedant Bapna made his mark in the pool winning the gold in backstrok in under 17 boys category. He took 1 min 0.5 seconds to take home the honours. Delhi’s Tanmay Das won the silver in the event.
In the under 17 girls category, Karnataka took the 1-2 finish with Neena Venkatesh and Suwana Bhaskar bagging the gold and silver in the 100m backstroke event.
