INDvsENG 2nd Test Day 3 : Woakes and Bairstow Take The Match Way Out of India’s Reach

Lords, London :

England batsmen have taken the match way out of India’s reach. The all-rounder Chris Woakes who troubled Virat Kohli yesterday and finally got him out scored his maiden century (120*) and Johnny Bairstow (93) added 189 for the sixth wicket. In the meantime, Bairstow also toppled Virat Kohli to become the lead run scorer of the year across formats.

FIRST SESSION :

Aliastar Cook and Keaton Jennings started off well before Shami got the breakthrough for India. He dismissed Jennings for 11.

Cook looked in fine touch but the lanky pacer Ishant Sharma got the better of him. He was out for 21.

Debutant Ollie Pope started off good. He made 28 before Hardik Pandya trapped him in front of the stumps. Soon after, Shami got Captain Joe Root and the match was hanging in the balance as both teams headed for lunch. England were 89/4, trailing by 18 runs.

SECOND SESSION :

Jos Buttler and Johnny Bairstow were on the crease. Buttler never looked settled for his 24. Shami finally had the breakthrough that India needed after the lunch.

Chris Woakes came to the crease and it was no looking back for England since then. The duo of Bairstow and Woakes added 189 runs for the sixth wicket. Each and every Indian bowler was tried by the Indian captain but for fruitless results.

THIRD SESSION :

Chris Woakes brought up his maiden Test century at the Home of Cricket and also his name on the honourable Lords board. He have also joined an esteemed list of players to feature in the Lords board in both the categories (bowler and batsman).

Bairstow, however couldn’t score the century. Hardik Pandya found the edge of his bat. He made 93. Sam Curran joined Woakes to extend England’s lead to a literally insurmountable 250 runs. England are 357/6 as stumps were called early due to bad light. It needs to been seen tomorrow how soon would England declare.
